Had a great time visiting - very interesting places and Dmitri is a great tour guide, great accomodations and transport and friendly people all the way around.
Always hate to comment on local politics but the info being spread that Crimea is lawless or occupied is a complete lie. The tour guides at all sites mentioned that historical sites and infrastructure was left in disrepair in Ukranian days and the Tartars were happy. Before commenting on the region you should visit it yourself.
Crimea is a great place to visit. People need to ignore the fake news about it being disputed territory.
We visited Crimea in summer 2017. We were there for more than 2 weeks.
The place is absolutely amazing and offers a great variety of historical landmarks: palaces (Vorontsov Palace, Livadia Palace, Swallow’s nest; the ancient city of Khersones, “Little Jerusalem” in Yevpatoriya (2500 years old!).
Every day was an adventure. We were hiking in the mountains, visited the caves and even went camping for two days beside the mountain river.
There are many beautiful beaches but you have to go further from the city as it gets very crowded during high season.
Many places don’t accept credit cards, so you have to exchange your money in advance and carry cash (Rubles).
You absolutely need comfortable shoes and a backpack.
From start to finish my trip was perfectly planned by my hosts, the owners of Crimean Marvel Quest. They are fun, open minded, friendly and hospitable.
My husband and I recently visited Crimea.
I visited Crimea when I was a kid and I had very good memories of it. Back than we mostly had beach vacations but this time we had discovered that there is so much more to Crimea. My husband (Canadian) traveled to Crimea for the first time ever and he was amazed. I was very proud to show him the place with so much culture. It’s difficult to imagine how much history is there. The palaces of the South Coast are stunning. We tried different traditional dishes, mostly Tatar cuisine like shashliki and chebureki, paired with fine Crimean wine. Surprisingly, they have very good wine. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time, only several days as we didn’t plan to go to Crimea, only to St-Petersburg. Our friends and hosts Dima and Nastia (Crimea Marvel Quest) convinced us to come and I must say that we’re happy that we did. I would recommend touring with them as the service they provide is personalized. Awesome experience!
We didn’t know what to expect when we booked our trip to Crimea with Crimea Marvel Quest company but they assured us that everything was going to be fine so we put our trust in them and oh how happy we are that we did!. Our trip was fantastic! All the talk about Crimea being unsafe for foreigners of course wasn’t true. We felt completely safe and welcome everywhere we went. Our guides (Dima & Nastia), a married couple from Montreal, Canada now living in Crimea made us feel welcome with their hospitality. They are a great couple who are very friendly, open minded and considerate. Dima is also a great cook! We tasted many treats he made for us and everything was absolutely delicious. Nastia was a great host making us feel like at home. They organized our trip with time efficiency in mind so our travel time was quite short which gave us a lot more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature of Crimea. Our tour was individual so we had a very comfortable vehicle at our disposal (2015 Kia Sportage) and moving around was a breeze. No line-ups, no wait times, no big crowds & no traffic jams! The weather was great and we were even able to spend some time at the beach and even got a nice tan. Overall, we are very happy and satisfied with our vacation. We hope to come back someday soon. Thank you!!!
